Stacey Merritt

A thirty year insurance veteran, Stacey has been a trailblazer in the health insurance industry. In 1993, Stacey founded HealthShare Alliance of Texas, a private, small employer health insurance purchasing co-op. It was the only private co-op founded in Texas to actually enlist and insure any members, and was the first private co-op in the country to be founded by an agent. Though the co-op is now dissolved, the ex-members now comprise the majority of Stacey's current clientele.

Instrumental in Lone Star's formation in 2003, Stacey has also been extensively involved in the politics of the health insurance industry at all levels. He has assisted insurance organizations in forming their own political action committees, and has authored various legislative bills in Texas, many of which have become law. He has received numerous industry awards, and is viewed as an important leader within the health insurance community in The Lone Star State.
